ERS Project: Engineering challenges of scalable quantum information processing (QIP)

 

Future quantum computers will be able to solve problems where conventional computers fail today. But still great engineering obstacles have to be overcome to build a quantum computer. This project, titled “Development of high-yield multi-layer gate fabrication for SiGe qubit devices”, addresses the reliability and scalability of fabrication processes for a Si/SiGe quantum bus (QuBus), which is an important building block towards scalable quantum computation. QuBus devices allow the states of a qubit to be transferred over ~10 microns. The proposed research activity focuses on device fabrication technology in coordination with electrical device characterization.
