Welcome to Prof. Barış Şimşek

The Chair for Electronic Devices (ELD) warmly welcomes Prof. Barış Şimşek, who will spend a one-year sabbatical at RWTH Aachen University hosted by Prof. Max Lemme. Prof. Şimşek is associate professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Çankırı Karatekin University (Turkey). His research stay in Aachen is supported by a grant of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), and will focus on the investigation of graphene-ink coating on polymer-based substrates for applications in flexible electronics

Prof. Şimşek is not the only visiting researcher hosted by ELD this summer. The second guest is Ms. Zineb Benzait, who is spending six months at ELD supported by a scholarship of the Erasmus+ programme and of AMO GmbH. Ms. Benzait is a PhD candidate in the Department for Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at Istanbul Technical University (Turkey), where she has gained experience on the synthesis and characterization of graphene-based nanocomposites. She will use her stay in Aachen to test the potential of these materials for gas-sensing applications and to extend her experimental skills.
